Surf Camp Safety

At surf camp, we teach our campers how to keep an eye out on their fellow campers and the basics of surfing safety so that as they surf more, they know how to stay safe. We have a lifeguard at our camp and our instructors #1 objective is to ensure that the campers are safe.

Surfing is a fun sport enjoyed by many people. For everyone to have fun, we must follow the basics of safety and etiquette. Below is a quick list to get you started in understanding these, which will help you enjoy time in the ocean.

Surfing Safety

  • Wear a leash. Keeping your board away from others is vital to safety.
  • Beginners should surf around lifeguards, not at an isolated beach
  • Surf with a friend and keep an eye on each other at all times
  • Surf in waves up to your ability, as you get better you can tackle more difficult situations.

Surfing Etiquette

  • Follow the understood guidelines for Right Away
  • Respect the environment and keep it clean
  • Beginners don't drive out in the middle of the lineup.
  • Respect the locals of that area or surf spot

If you follow these guidelines, you will have fun and the other surfers around you will as well. To gain respect, you must show respect. Remember that and you will be fine.
